When Apex Performance began back in 2014,

The dream was to give people a place to go when they needed help achieving their goals.

Everyone has goals. Some big, some small, but most people have no real plan or structure in place to get them where they want to be. Through the trials and tribulations of the last several years, we have created an environment solely based upon building our members up both physically and mentally everyday towards whatever success they may be chasing.

Are you an athlete looking to make the varsity team or play in college? Maybe you want to drop a few pounds and get in shape to create a better lifestyle for yourself. We all have goals and we all deserve the opportunity to achieve them. Apex Performance is fortunate enough to have the opportunity to work with people from all walks of life ranging from Olympic level athletes to moms, dads, and young children.

I entered this industry immediately following the conclusion of my college baseball career. I was always an active guy and loved being involved in sports and fitness. The second I hung up my baseball glove I knew I wanted to be involved in a career built around fitness and helping people achieve goals they didn’t believe were possible. I cleaned out my parent’s garage and spent every penny I had to my name on gym equipment to create a place to stay in shape and train a few friends and local athletes. Six years and thousands of community members trained later Apex Performance is still standing strong & growing every day thanks to our loyal family of #ApexAthletes

Fitness and health have always been at the forefront of my lifestyle for as long as I can remember. After graduating from Cuny Queens College and spending a few years in physical education, I decided to enter the fitness industry to pursue my true passion. Pivoting away from solely strength and conditioning, I began to focus my energy on creating a FUNctional boot camp with the intention of helping people live a healthy, strong, and pain-free life. I bring a plethora of knowledge based on correct movement patterns that have our FitFamily learn about their bodies while they’re working up a sweat. I look forward to helping the NR community meantime their health and wellness for years to come.”

I’m a personal trainer whose strength is body transformations. I specialize in body recomposition, the process of burning off body fat while simultaneously gaining muscle. I help people achieve there weight loss, strength, and physique goals, in a fast and timely manner, to help them be the best versions of themselves and regain their confidence. I create custom diet plans as well which include the required macros and calories needed for their goals, as well as provide recipes for you to enjoy. My overall goal as a trainer is to leave you with the knowledge to continue working on yourself after our time together as well as introduce a way of eating that is filling, delicious, and nutritious.

Kevin Hylas | Apex Performance

Kevin Hylas

Baseball Hitting Director

Played in two College World Series’ with the Oswego Lakers. Led his team in batting average his senior year hitting .361. Won SUNYAC MVP as well as first team All-Region. Was named to the All-Region team at RCC as well as winning the gold glove award for both center field and shortstop. Kevin is currently the hitting coach for the North Rockland Varsity baseball team.

I am a biomechanical and performance specialist who coaches human movement and athletic performance in baseball players. With the epidemic of injuries occurring in players, my programs make all aware of the importance of the kinetic chain in the body and the understanding of its movements as well as maintaining a healthy career.

I was born and raised in Rockland County New York. I went to North Rockland High School. During my senior year playing baseball, I was awarded Section Pitcher of the Year and was ranked one of the top 5 pitchers in New York State while compiling an 8-1 record with an era of 0.88. Those numbers ranked me as one of the top Left Handed pitchers in New York High Schools. My biggest honor was when I was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in 2000, but opted to play at Oklahoma State. I went on to play several years in professional baseball for teams such as Seattle (MLB), Rockland (Can-Am), and San Diego (GBL). Since retiring from professional baseball, I pursued my goal of teaching kids from Little League to Professionals. I love baseball and have a passion to teach the game the right way. I focus on skill development with an eye on the future — in baseball and life.

After my career was over I decided it was best for me to instill the values and life skills to the next generation by becoming a coach. Yes, baseball is fun, but I realize inspiring values of hard work, teamwork, and respect are much more important than the game. Teaching life through baseball is held in high regard in all of our programs. The main goal we follow is to help players reach their maximum potential on and off the field, but also to provide them an opportunity to play at the highest level possible. Seeing kids grow and achieve their own success is the brightest moment a coach can ask for.

My programs are designed to use innovations that have been developed over the past decade to assure each player follows research-based programs. Our approach to improving performance has been developed through the work of scientific research, biomechanical analysis, and anthropometric data used by experts in all of baseball.
